Laura Szakos, Office Administrator

Hi! My name is Laura Szakos. I am originally from Greensburg, PA, a suburb about 45 minutes east of Pittsburgh. After graduating from West Virginia University in 2000, I briefly moved back to PA then ended up in North Carolina venturing into the property management business. In 2005, I found a middle ground in the DMV area and was there until 2016. I moved back and while trying to adjust to small-town living again, I met a nice guy named Bob who drove 2 hours to go on a date with me. I never thought anything would come out of it. And we have been together ever since.

We have a Cozy Cabin (that is literally the name of it on Airbnb. We rent it out on weekends and Holidays) in PA. We got engaged one year after we met in 2018. We planned a nice 200-person wedding at the Penn Stater in State College, PA. Two months before our May 23, 2020 wedding I got a call that the Penn Stater was shutting down. I think we all remember what we were doing in March 2020! We were in the Cozy Cottage a little too much in those days and I missed the DMV area terribly. The Cozy Cottage is perfect for a weekend getaway, but year-round not so much. It is too cold there in the Winter -- I prefer a bit of sunshine in my life! 

So here I am, looking for the best of both worlds. We still have the cottage that we rent out and a small apartment in North Bethesda. I appreciate the Cottage a lot more as a temporary escape when needed, but I really like the North Bethesda/Potomac area. I work at the Geneva Day School Monday through Friday part-time with the 2 and 3-year-olds. I also work as a Child Care worker at Geneva Presbyterian Church most Sundays, as well as babysitting/tutoring four children in my apartment building. And now I will be working for Geneva Presbyterian Church weekdays, M-Th from 12:00-5:00 pm. I am very happy to be here and look forward to getting to know you all better!
